College football television schedule for Oct. 21, 2023

Both Kentucky and Louisville are off this week, but there are plenty of reasons for Wildcats fans and Cardinals backers to tune into Saturday’s college football schedule.

For example, Kentucky plays host to Tennessee next Saturday. So UK fans can check out the 17th-ranked Volunteers against No. 11 Alabama at 3:30 p.m. on CBS.

Tennessee is 5-1 overall and 2-1 in the SEC after last Saturday’s 20-13 win over Texas A&M in Knoxville. Josh Heupel’s club leads the SEC in rushing behind Jaylen Wright, who gained 138 yards on 19 carries against the Aggies. Wright is averaging 7.1 yards per carry.

Meanwhile, Alabama enters Saturday 6-1 overall and 4-0 in the conference. The Tide ranks second in the SEC and 15th nationally in total defense, allowing 291.6 yards per game. Nick Saban’s club is 12th nationally in yards allowed per rush at 3.00. The Tide lost last year’s shootout to Tennessee 52-49 at Neyland Stadium when the Volunteers gained 182 yards on the ground.

Louisville returns to action next Saturday when the Cards play host to Duke. So U of L fans can check out the No. 16-ranked Blue Devils against No. 4-ranked Florida State in Tallahassee. ABC has the 7:30 p.m. kickoff.

Duke is 5-1 overall and 2-0 in the ACC, but Mike Elko’s team could be missing Riley Leonard. Duke’s star quarterback suffered a high ankle sprain in the team’s loss to Notre Dame on Sept. 30. He sat out the Devils’ 24-3 win over North Carolina State last week. Leonard is questionable for Saturday.

Florida State is 6-0 overall and 4-0 in the ACC. FSU wide receiver Keon Coleman is having a standout season. He’s caught 29 passes for 418 yards and seven touchdowns. Quarterback Jordan Travis has thrown for 13 scores, with just interception.
