The track then became a massive hit, breaking every chart record imaginable. Naturally, fans were curious about Pfeiffer’s reaction upon learning about the song. Much to everyone’s delight, she felt flattered. However, her children had a different take on it, prompting her to apologize to them whenever the BOP played on the radio.

Certainly, being name-dropped by Bruno Mars in the song of the year in 2014 was undoubtedly an honor for Michelle Pfeiffer. However, she found herself both flattered and embarrassed to be part of this musical tribute. The source of her embarrassment was her kids. Ironically, while the world celebrated the song, it was a less enjoyable experience for Pfeiffer’s teenagers. To them, their mother’s mention in the song ended up ruining the entire track, making it a rather humorous situation.
On The Graham Norton Show in 2017, the actress stated,
“It was a little embarrassing at times. I’m in carpool with the kids and the song comes on…”
She then imitated her kids’ reaction, and the enacted reaction was far from amusing, to say the least.
Although she had nothing to do with this she still felt compelled to apologize to her kids as the lyrics went, “This hit, that ice cold. Michelle Pfeiffer, that white gold.”
She went on to reveal that the singers didn’t inform her before she was name-dropped in the song. As a result, she was taken by surprise when someone mentioned it to her via email, catching her completely off guard.

She was also referenced in Vance Joy’s 2013 hit song Riptide! When asked about the significance of the line and how the artist, Vance Joy was inspired by the actress, he revealed to Buzzfeed,
“She comes back to her apartment after being thrown out the window by Christopher Walken and she goes mental. Her apartment’s all pink and beautiful, and kind of creepy and infantile, then she just smashes it all up and spray paints stuff and transforms into Catwoman. It’s this really kind of sexual scene; it’s amazing.”
Even though the actress wasn’t as prominent in movies in recent years as she was back in the 90s with her iconic choices in roles and films, she was undeniably making waves in the music scene in the mid-2010s.
