Dolphins vs Eagles live online: stats, scores and highlights | NFL Week 7 – AS USA


The Philadelphia Eagles responded after questions started to surround them following their Week 6 loss to the New York Jets last week. Jalen Hurts and the Eagles came out and played their best football of the season in the 31-17 win over the Miami Dolphins. 

Will they meet again?

It was a potential Super Bowl preview from Lincoln Financial Field, between to college teammates who are currently a couple of the best quarterbacks in the league. Tua Tagovailoa and Jalen Hurts didn’t speak during the week, but the two met at midfield and exchanged a hand shake and a hug after the Eagles sank the Dolphins from Philly.

The Eagles had a lot of questions to answer after their loss to the Jets, and they did exactly that on Sunday night. Philly might have been 5-0 after their first five games, but no one thought they were playing their best football and when they were shocked in the Meadowlands last week the alarm bells began to sound. 

Instead of panicking like the rest of the city, Hurts and the Eagles overwhelmed the Dolphins in every facet of the game. Philly came out and marched right down the field, but were forced to settle for a field goal on the opening drive of the night.

Miami manages just one TD on offense

Miami’s high powered, edging on historic offense was kept in check not just in the first quarter, but all night. The team that came into Week 7 with more total yards and more points scored than any other team in NFL history after six games, was held to just one offensive touchdown all night. 

Hurts put the first touchdown on the board when he found Dallas Goedert early in the second half on a screen that the tight end took 21 yards to the house on National Tight Ends Day. The Eagles would stretch their advantage out even more after a deep pass to AJ Brown put the ball inside the one setting up an inevitable tush push turned TD to take a 17-3 lead midway through the second quarter.

Miami came storming back, scoring a touchdown late in the first half as their offense finally started to click. Tagovailoa hit Tyreek Hill on a 27 yard dime to the back of the end zone less than a minute before halftime. The Dolphins would get the ball back after the break, but wouldn’t score again until Jerome Baker picked off a deflected Jalen Hurts pass and took it to the house to tie the game up at 17 with 4:00 to go in the third quarter. 

Hurts tops Tua in battle of Bama QBs

The Eagles would take control back with a calm, efficient eight play drive that eased the nerves of the Philly fans. Brown would get his touchdown on a comeback route that he broke up the middle of the field for a 14 yard catch and run to take a 24-17 lead. 

Miami would get deep into Philadelphia territory on the next drive, but with the ball on the 24, Tua looked deep for Raheem Mostert, but Darius Slay Jr. came up with the play of the game making the interception in the end zone and flattening the Dolphins chances of tying up the game. 

Tua was held to just 216 yards, with one TD and one INT while the run game was limited to 45 yards all night. Hurts polished off the finished the game with 279 yards and two TDs with his one INT, but it was Kennth Gainwell who sealed the deal late in the fourth quarter. He capped off a 13 play, 83 yard drive with a spinning run into the end zone from three yards out with under 5:00 to go in the fourth quarter. 

What lies ahead

The Eagles know there isn’t much time to enjoy this win. They have the Commanders and Cowboys before their Week 10 BYE, and then will have KC, the Bills, San Francisco, Dallas again and the Seahawks. The Dolphins are going to have to dust themselves off after the loss, knowing that their five wins have come against teams that had won a total of five games coming into Week 7.
