MANHATTAN, Kan. – Each week throughout the 2023 season, k-statesports.com recaps the action for the 16 former Kansas State football players currently in the NFL.
 
Felix Anudike-Uzomah, DE – Kansas City Chiefs
Anudike-Uzomah, a first-round pick this year, and the Kansas City Chiefs were off last week. The Chiefs hold a 7-2 record and host Philadelphia on Monday night.
 
Ekow Boye-Doe, CB – Kansas City Chiefs
A rookie free agent this past offseason, Boye-Doe is on the Chiefs’ practice squad. Kansas City was off last week, and the 7-2 Chiefs host Philadelphia on Monday night.
 
JuJu Brents, CB – Indianapolis Colts
Brents, a second-round selection in the 2023 NFL Draft who has started four games this season, was inactive due to injury during the Colts’ 10-6 victory over New England in Frankfurt, Germany. Indianapolis evened its record at 5-5 this year going into its bye week.
 
Josh Hayes, DB – Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Hayes, a sixth-round selection in the 2023 NFL Draft, was inactive during Tampa Bay’s 20-6 home victory over Tennessee. The Buccaneers improved to 4-5 this year, and they play at San Francisco on Sunday.
 
Timmy Horne, DL – Atlanta Falcons
Horne, a second-year veteran, is on the Falcons practice squad but was elevated to the active roster for their game at Arizona as he recorded one tackle and a pass breakup among his 23 defensive snaps in a 25-23 loss. The defeat was the third-straight for Atlanta, which is now 4-6 this season entering its bye week.
 
Malik Knowles, WR – Minnesota Vikings
Knowles, a rookie free agent signee by Minnesota this past spring, is on injured reserve. The Vikings recorded their fifth-straight victory with a 27-19 win over New Orleans. Minnesota is now 6-4 this year as it travels to face Denver on Sunday night.
 
Tyler Lockett, WR – Seattle Seahawks
Making his 112th career start, Lockett came away with a game-high eight receptions for 92 yards and hauled in a five-yard touchdown catch with 3:47 remaining to break a 19-19 tie in Seattle’s 29-26 home victory over Washington. The Seahawks are now 6-3 this year and travel to face the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.
 
Cornelius Lucas, OL – Washington Commanders
A ninth-year pro, Lucas was in for five special teams plays in Washington’s 29-26 loss at Seattle. The Commanders fell to 4-6 this year, and they host the New York Giants on Sunday.
 
Byron Pringle, WR – Washington Commanders
A signee by Washington this offseason, Pringle had one catch for seven yards among his 10 offensive snaps in addition to seeing time on 10 special teams plays in Washington’s 29-26 defeat at Seattle. The Commanders, now 4-6 this season, host the New York Giants on Sunday.
 
D.J. Reed, DB – New York Jets
Making the 48th start of his career and seventh this season, Reed carded three tackles as he was in for all 64 defensive snaps in New York’s 16-12 loss at Las Vegas on Sunday night. The Jets fell to 4-5 this season, and they remain on the road to take on Buffalo on Sunday.
 
Dalton Risner, OL – Minnesota Vikings
Risner, an in-season acquisition by Minnesota, carded his fourth-straight start and was in for all 73 offensive snaps to help the Vikings pick up a 27-19 home victory over New Orleans. It was Minnesota’s fifth-straight victory to improve to 6-4 this season, and the Vikings are at Denver on Sunday night.
 
Duke Shelley, DB – Los Angeles Rams
Shelley, a free agent signee after the preseason, and the Los Angeles Rams were off last week. Coming out of the bye week with a 3-6 record, the Rams host Seattle on Sunday.
 
Skylar Thompson, QB – Miami Dolphins
Thompson, who has served as the third quarterback for all eight games this year, and the Miami Dolphins had their bye last week. Miami, 6-3 this season, hosts Las Vegas on Sunday.
 
Deuce Vaughn, RB – Dallas Cowboys
Vaughn, a sixth-round selection in this year’s draft who was active for the first time since Week 5, tallied one catch for 11 yards and three punt returns for nine yards to help Dallas earn a 49-17 home win over the New York Giants. The Cowboys are now 6-3 this year as they travel to face Carolina on Sunday.
 
Cody Whitehair, OL – Chicago Bears
Whitehair carded his 117th-career start and was in for all 72 offensive snaps to help Chicago earn a 16-13 home victory over Carolina on Thursday night. The Bears improved to 3-7 this season and are at Detroit on Sunday.
 
Russ Yeast, S – Los Angeles Rams
A seventh-round selection last year, Yeast – who has started all nine games this year – and the Los Angeles Rams were off last week. The 3-6 Rams host Seattle on Sunday.
