Stefon Diggs responds to brother Trevon’s suggestion to seek a trade – Marca

Trevon Diggs and his big brother Stefon are making waves again following the Buffalo Bills‘ disastrous loss to the Denver Broncos on Monday night. After the 24-22 defeat, Trevon — whose 2023 season with Dallas ended prematurely following a torn knee ligament — took to social media to say that Stefon should ask for a trade out of Buffalo and away from turnover-prone quarterback Josh Allen.

But on Thursday, Stefon spoke for himself and dismissed his brother’s recommendation, reaffirming his committment to the Bills even as they’re wading through a challenging campaign that could see them miss the playoffs.

“I’ve said the same thing over and over and over”

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Diggs lamented assumptions that have been made about his happiness in Buffalo, where last year he signed an extension tying him to the franchise until 2026.

“I’ve never said anything about being unhappy,” Diggs said. “When you draw conclusions on things I’ve never said, that’s what kind of troubles me.”

Many fans and analysts have suggested that Diggs’ stardom is too big for Buffalo. The 29-year-old has never played in a Super Bowl, and there has been constant speculation that he doesn’t see eye-to-eye with the mercurial Allen or with head coach Sean McDermott.

But if Diggs is really unhappy, he’s done a nice job disguising it on the field. The three-time Pro Bowler is in the midst of another excellent season — through 10 games, he’s caught 73 passes for 868 yards and seven touchdowns. Barring injury, Diggs will record his fourth consecutive season with at least 1,200 receiving yards.

“I’m not responsible for how other people feel,” Diggs said. “I love my brother, (but) if it was another fan of anybody else who commented on the game, you all wouldn’t have said anything.”

Will Dorsey’s firing help?

The Bills‘ offense has performed at a high level for much of this season, but inexplicable turnovers and a number of close losses have left them on the outside looking in of the AFC playoff picture. In response, McDermott fired offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey this week — a move that has met with Diggs‘ approval.

Diggs and the Bills will get a chance this weekend to demonstrate that, maybe, Dorsey really was a problem — a thumping win over the New York Jets could get Buffalo‘s season back on track. But the Jets have a stingy defense, and the Bills’ upcoming schedule — with games against the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs included — means Sunday afternoon’s game is a must-win.
