When it comes to the best overall TV deal at Best Buy this year, the LG 48” OLED 4K UHD Smart webOS TV is taking the lead. For just $550, you’re getting all the features that typically put this TV well past the $1,000 mark. The 4K (2160p) resolution is four times that of full HD, creating lifelike images and graphics on screen. Boosting the picture quality even more, the OLED display means the pixels self-illuminate instead of being backlit, and this results in perfect contrast (meaning blacks are truly black), extremely high color accuracy, and virtually no blurring.
Another advantage of the OLED display is that it allows for excellent wide screen viewing, unlike LED TVs which are best viewed from the center angle only. This means you’ll be able to take full advantage of the mid-size screen, whether it’s in a bedroom, office, or living room. It’s kind of like the Goldilocks of TVs, not too small, not too big, but just right.And of course, this TV is a smart TV (because why would you buy anything else these days, right?). Simply connect it to the internet to stream all your favorite online content (Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, etc.) directly. No need for a Firestick, Chromecast, or other external streaming device. All the tech specs are basically the same, except the smart capability interface is through Google instead of webOS. While it doesn’t include the free three months of Apple TV+, you can save $100 off an eligible sound bar when you buy this TV.
While the OLED display is great, it does tend to be significantly more expensive than standard LED TVs. Alternatively, this on-sale LG 55” UHD Smart webOS TV still features bright, ultra high-def image quality, only at a much lower price point compared to its mid-size OLED counterparts, especially at 40% off.
But speaking of super cheap TV bargains, you can snag the TCL 40” FHD LED Smart TV for $99.99. Considering the size, full HD resolution, bright and clear LED picture, and built-in fire TV, it’s quite a steal. Heck, even a basic Firestick runs between $20-$50. However, this TV does only have full HD resolution, so the picture quality, though still good, is much less than the UHD models we’ve been looking at.
If you’re looking to upgrade to a giant screen, we recommend the Samsung 77” OLED UHD Smart Tizen TV. After all, if you’re going for the at-home movie theater experience, you might as well go all out with the immersive, lifelike image quality and colorful picture.
