Another massive scandal is brewing in the NBA after Oklahoma City Thunder’sJosh Giddey has gone viral with pictures and videos alongside an allegedly underage girl. Her name is Livv Cook and she is reportedly a sophomore in high school. Livv herself posted images bragging about having sexual intercourse with Giddey and the player does seem like he is comfortable enough around her to make people think this is true. The images were initially posted by an anonymous source. This source took the post down but it was too late, the damage was done and Josh Giddey’s career is in serious jeopardy right now. This is all it takes to kill a career short in the NBA, a league that has some strange double standards but potential statutory rape allegations is where they do draw the line.
What is the age of consent in Oklahoma?
Given the scandalous situation for Josh Giddey, many have started wondering what the age of consent in the state of Oklahoma may be. According to Oklahoma Criminal Defense, the age of consent in the state is 16 years. That means that if Livv is 15 as the person who posted the image says, Giddey is definitely committing a crime. However, there was no context given to the pictures and videos’ date. It is still unclear if these pictures are recent or if they were taken years in the past. Also, one of the girl’s pictures with the f-bomb caption looks different to the other one. We may be looking at two different girls. Currently though, Josh Giddey is 21 years old. The Australian is currently one of the NBA’s rising stars with an average 12.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 4.5 assists this season. Keep in mind that in his country, the age of consent is 16.
The account @creaktwizz on the X platform posted the videos and images of Livv saying: “I just f**ked Josh Giddey. He says hi.” In one of the videos, Josh is talking to the girl’s brother and Giddey refers to Livv s his girl in a different video. In the post, the person who posted the content wrote the following without offering any more context: “Josh Giddey from the OKC thunder with an under-age girl. First video he is talking to her brother. This is Disgusting and this man needs to be punished. We can’t let this go under the surface any longer. This needs to be seen. Girl is a junior in high school.” Amid the scandal that this provoked online, the Oklahoma City Thunder still hasn’t made any public statements, nor has Josh Giddey at this time.
