NBA In-Season Tournament Prize Pool: How much money is the winning team getting? – MARCA.com

The quarterfinals of the NBA‘s inaugural In-Season tournament commence on Monday, November 4, with two teams missing out on the chance to get their hands on a healthy amount of cash and a trophy, but just how much will they get in prize money?

For the elite earners, it’s barely more than pocket money but for those who are breaking out in their careers or perhaps don’t enjoy an incredibly high salary then it’s a significant sum to take home as a nice Christmas present for their families.

The total to be won by going all the way through the 2023 edition is just the small amount of $850,000 per player. That full amount will be awarded to whoever emerges victorious in the final on December 9 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

But there is one clause. Two-way players only get half as much as those on full-contracts but some of the players are completely fine with that since it’s not about the money. Across the whole roster, the winning side will take home a grand total of $7,500,000 if they’re all fully contracted players.

What is the prize bracket for the NBA In-Season Tournament?

There are bonuses to be won across all stages of the elimination phases, which works via a one-game winner-takes-all match up. If you lose you’re out. Thus it keeps players motivated to try along with the fact that all non-final games count towards the regular NBA season.

They’re structured as follows:

Quarterfinals: Players are given $50000 for making this stage, or $25000 if they are two-way players. If all teams have a maxed out roster with full-time players, $6m USD will be given out as prize money in this round.

Semifinals: Players are given $100,000 for making the last four, or $50000 depending on their contract agreement. If all teams have a maxed out roster with full-time players, $6m USD will be given out as prize money in this round.

Finals: Players are given $500,000 if they make it to the last game of the tournament, $250,000 for two-way players. If all teams have a maxed out roster with full-time players, $7.5m USD will be given out as prize money in this round.

A strange pick for the final’s venue

The final was selected to be held in Las Vegas out in the Mojave desert in Nevada as it currently does not possess an NBA franchise, so is this an attempt from the league to attempt to grow the sport there?

Sin City is becoming a hotbed for sport after the Oakland Raiders (NFL) relocated there in 2019 and now the Oakland Athletics (MLB) so is the NBA about to court the idea of an expansion franchise in the city, or even a relocation?

The nearest franchise to Las Vegas is the Los Angeles Lakers in California.
