TV tonight: a hilarious romcom about modern dating in London | Television

Smothered

10pm, Sky Comedy

“He just liked me so much … which is a bit of a red flag, isn’t it?” Welcome to the mental quagmire of modern dating in London, via this hilarious six-parter by Schitt’s Creek writer Monica Heisey. When romantically jaded Sammy (Danielle Vitalis) meets square-but-sweet Tom (Jon Pointing) at a boozy karaoke night, they agree to a three-week, no-strings-attached affair. But why is Sammy afraid to admit she has feelings? Is it too good to be true? This is a must-watch for fans of the not-so-typical romcom, such as Rose Matafeo’s Starstruck or Johnny Flynn’s The Lovers. There’s a lot of fun to be had, too, from Harry Trevaldwyn’s wicked turn as Tom’s snarky gen Z colleague. Hollie Richardson
