Oklahoma State Leads Big 12 Women’s Tennis Preseason Poll – Big 12 Conference


Oklahoma State was picked to finish atop the Conference standings by league coaches in the 2024 Big 12 Women’s Tennis Preseason Poll as OSU received eight first-place votes and totaled 161 points. Texas followed with the second-most points (160) and collected four first-place votes a year after earning a share of the regular season title and the postseason conference championship. Oklahoma, UCF and Baylor rounded out the top five with the Sooners and Bears each receiving one first-place vote. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team.

The Cowgirls finished fourth in the Big 12 with a 16-8 overall record and a 7-2 mark in league play in 2023. OSU advanced to the semifinals in the 2023 Big 12 Women’s Tennis Championship and the second round in the 2023 NCAA DI Women’s Tennis Championships. It’s only the second time in program history that Oklahoma State has been picked to win the Conference with the last time coming in 2017 when the Cowgirls earned a share of the conference regular season title.

The Longhorns were picked to finish in the top two for the seventh consecutive year. Texas ended its 2023 season with an appearance in the quarterfinals of the 2023 NCAA Championships after earning a share of the conference regular season title and winning the 2023 Big 12 Women’s Tennis Championship.

The Sooners garnered their third consecutive top-three selection after also earning a share of the regular season title in 2023. They ended their year with a third-round appearance in the NCAA Championships following a runner-up finish at the Big 12 Championship.

UCF makes its debut in the Conference, slotted to finish fourth following an appearance in the first round of the 2023 NCAA tournament. Baylor rounds out the top five with 111 points and one first-place vote after a second-round appearance in the NCAA tournament last season.
