Katie Boulter gives boyfriend new view on tennis as Alex de Minaur discusses relationship – Express
Alex de Minaur has opened up on his relationship with fellow tennis star Katie Boulter. The Australian recently cracked the world’s top 10 for the first time, also getting his maiden victory over a world No. 1 when he beat Novak Djokovic at the United Cup. And he admitted that Boulter had helped his career, giving him a new outlook on the sport and his losses.
Boulter and De Minaur have become one of tennis’ most well-known power couples. The pair have been together for almost four years and know what it’s like to share the tennis court as both teammates and rivals. They played mixed doubles together at Wimbledon last summer and, at the start of this season, Britain faced Australia at the United Cup with Boulter and De Minaur representing their respective countries.
While they have shared glimpses of their relationship on social media and on the tennis court during their mixed doubles stint, the ATP No. 11 and the top-ranked British woman like to keep things low-key. “We live quite a private life, so very rarely will people find out about our life, if we don’t tell them,” De Minaur recently told Esquire.
“I think that’s probably not going to change. Whatever happens between us, if we want to share, we will share it, if not, then we won’t.” While Boulter and De Minaur are keen to keep things private, the 24-year-old Australian is happy to explain how his girlfriend has helped him with his tennis.
The world No. 11 added: “She teaches me to enjoy life, enjoy the process, not let results dictate your life. At times, I’ve been very hard on myself and I’ve taken losses very, very badly.
“But the sheer fact of being with her, I’ve been able to snap out of it so much quicker and learn to enjoy it and see the good things about life off the court.” Boulter’s ability to pick her boyfriend up after a loss proved crucial after his recent defeat at the Australian Open.
De Minaur went into his home Grand Slam tournament fresh off the back of becoming the first Aussie man to sit in the world’s top 10 since Lleyton Hewitt in 2006. After an impressive run at the United Cup, he was eager to push for a deep run in Melbourne.
