Harry Kane is loving German football, and it turns out that German football is loving him back.

Bayern Munich’s record signing was up to his usual tricks at the weekend, scoring a match-winning goal in a 3-1 win over their bogey team, Borussia Monchengladbach.

Avoiding a slip up before their top of the table clash against Bayer Leverkusen, Kane registered his 24th Bundesliga goal of the season in just 20 games.

That edges him ever-closer to Robert Lewandowski’s 41-goal record, and further endears himself to supporters.

But it’s not just Bayern fans that are loving Kane, with one of their former midfielders explaining his impact league-wide.

Didi Hamann told talkSPORT: “They’re not playing well but it just goes to show how good he is.

“He probably touches the ball 20, 25 times and he probably scores with every third or fourth touch.

“He’s settled and he’s a breath of fresh air. To have the England captain in Germany is a huge thing and he’s so humble and so likeable. I think for the club and the league it’s been a blessing to have him.”

Kane started his time in Germany living in a Munich hotel, but even won over the staff while starring on the pitch.

The England captain and the club’s record signing at £100million, the 30-year-old from Tottenham has been a huge coup on and off the pitch.

Further endearing himself to supporters, he and the rest of his teammates were sent to individual fan clubs across Germany.

Kane’s visit to Kirchweidach saw him bowling beer glasses, hitting nails into tree trunks and even holding babies.

Speaking at the event, he said: “Doing things like Oktoberfest, doing things like today will help me learn the Bavarian culture and it’s been good fun so far.

“It’s a unique experience, I’ve not had something like this before in my career but it’s been good fun.

“I said at the start when I first joined that I wanted to learn more about the German culture and get to know the fans more and this is a prime example.

“As players we always want to give back to the fans as much as possible and coming out here to meet them has been a good day for them and me as well.”
