Utah State Men’s Tennis Posts 4-3 Neutral Court Win Against Santa Clara – Utah State University Athletics

PHOENIX, Arizona – Utah State men’s tennis improved to 6-1 on the spring season after posting a 4-3 neutral court win against Santa Clara in Phoenix, Arizona. The Broncos fell to 5-2 with the loss.
 
The Aggies took the lead early as they earned the doubles point as senior Stijn Paardekooper and sophomore Nuno Pinheiro won posted a 7-6 (4) win at the first position, while graduate senior Bodin Zarkovic and freshman Stefan Vedovelli notched a 6-3 win at the second position.
 
In singles, Paardekooper won at the No. 2 spot in three sets (7-6 (5), 3-6, 6-4), junior Sergi Micó Fenollar won in three sets at the No. 3 spot (3-6, 6-1, 6-1) and freshman Mohammad Alkotop won in straight sets at the No. 5 spot (7-5, 6-3).
 
Zarkovic fell at the No. 1 spot in straight sets (1-6, 4-6), Pinheiro lost in straight sets at the No. 4 spot (6-7 (3), 2-6) and Vedovelli lost in three sets at the No. 6 spot (2-6, 6-3, 3-6).
 
Utah State is back in action tomorrow with a match at Grand Canyon on Sunday, Feb. 18, at 10 a.m.
