Women’s Tennis: Macalester Tops St. Kate’s, 7-2 in MIAC Opener – Macalester College

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Macalester College women’s tennis team earned a conference victory over St. Catherine University, 7-2 in a MIAC dual Friday night at Baseline Tennis Center. The dual served as the MIAC opener for the Scots, who improve to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
Macalester swept doubles play in three close matches, with senior Sydney Ellison (Birmingham, Ala./Spain Park) and sophomore Elizabeth Trevathan (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) winning at No. 1 doubles, 8-7 (9-7). Seniors Amanye Reynolds (St. Paul, Minn./Harding) and Meg Ulrich (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) were victorious at No. 2 doubles, 8-6, while junior Megan Twomey (Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn) and sophomore Savannah Haugen (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji) won at No. 3 doubles, 8-7 (8-6).
In singles, Reynolds, Ulrich, Trevathan and Haugen won their matches at second, third, fourth and fifth singles, respectively.
Macalester returns to action on Sunday, Mar. 3 with another MIAC dual at St. Scholastica. The dual begins at 4:30 p.m. in Duluth, Minn.
