Beach Tennis Match Against Penn State Cancelled Due to Inclement Weather – Long Beach State University Athletics

The Beach and the Nittany Lions initially moved the match from 2 p.m., to 11 a.m., to try and get the contest in before the rain fell. However, the rain began at 1 p.m. and did not let up forcing the match to be cancelled.
Long Beach State rallied to win the doubles point to start the day strong. The two teams started singles action, before the rain halted play for about two hours prior to the official cancellation call. At the time of the cancellation, Rhona Cook had dropped the first set 6-2 at flight one and was tied 1-1. At flight two, Peppi Ramstedt was leading 5-3, while Doga Akyurek lost the opening set, 6-2, at flight three and was down 4-1 in the second set. Justine Dondonay was tied 5-5 at flgiht four, while Sarah Medik led 5-3 at flight five, and Mathilde Tranberg was up 3-1 in the second set after dropping the first 6-0 at flight six.
