Women’s Tennis Keeps Rolling, Downs Cal State Fullerton, 4-2 – Harvard University – Harvard Athletics


FULLERTON, Calif. – No. 43 Harvard women’s tennis opened its California trip and pushed its win streak to seven by downing Cal State Fullerton, 4-2, yesterday afternoon. 

How it Happened

Despite Iveta Daujotaite and Angel You posting a dominant 6-1 performance to open the day in doubles, the Crimson fell behind as the Titans took the final two doubles wins. 
 
The Titans pulled further ahead with the first singles victory at the No. 3 spot, but it would be their final win of the day, as the Crimson came alive. 
 
Harvard victories began with Maxi Duncan registering identical 6-3 decisions to defeat Seha Yu (CSF) at the No. 4 spot.  Sany Gawande quickly followed behind to even the match while dropping the least number of games of any Crimson player, downing her opponent, 6-2, 6-1. 
 
Kate Kim kept her winning ways going at the No. 6 position, downing Milena Gevorgyan (CSF) in a pair of 6-4 decisions.  The victory pulled Harvard within a win of clinching and marked Kim’s 20th victory of 2023-24. 
 
With one match still outstanding, Holly Fischer clinched the Crimson victory at the No. 1 spot.  After cruising to a 6-1 first set victory, the junior powered through tiebreakers in the second to secure the straight set win. 

Harvard Highlights

  • The Crimson who are out to its start in program history, kept its winning streak alive by downing the Titans.  Standing at 11-2 overall, Harvard has now won its last seven contests. 
  • Iveta Daujotaite and Angel You’s victory marks the first for the duo this season, as they cruised to a 6-1 win at the No. 2 doubles spot. 
  • With her win today, Kate Kim becomes the first Crimson player this season to eclipse 10 wins in dual competition.  The first-year has now won 20 singles matches total throughout her first collegiate season. 
  • Holly Fischer and Maxi Duncan continue to stand side by side in overall singles victories, each collecting their 11th of the year with their victories yesterday. 
  • The meeting between the two squads is just the second all-time, as the Crimson remain undefeated against the Titans.
