Women’s Tennis Drops SEC Road Test at No. 30 Vanderbilt – Ole Miss Athletics
The Rebels had a strong start against Vanderbilt (6-4, 1-2 SEC) after securing the doubles point. Leclercq-Ficher and Ludmila Kareisova took a win on court two, finishing 6-4 after duo Briana Crowley and Ava Hrastar fell short 4-6 on the first court. With all pressure on the third position, the Rebels pulled out the early lead after Lucie Devier and Kelsey Mize won 7-5.
With a quick start to singles, Hrastar put out an big first set of 6-2, but unfortunately gave up the next, after a forced third-set loss. Emma Kette rallied a 7-6 (7-5) first-set finish, which ultimately gave her enough momentum to finish 6-2 and add a point for Ole Miss (8-4, 2-2 SEC).
Leclercq-Ficher dropped set one in the fourth slot 1-6. However, for the third straight match, she came back in set two that boasted an electric ride, as Leclercq-Ficher went on the clinch 6-2, 6-3 in sets two and three.
In the end, the Commodores prevailed with wins on courts three, five, and two.
The 34th-ranked Rebels head to Lexington Sunday, March 17 at 1 p.m. to face the No. 64 Kentucky Wildcats.
