Joventut Badalona coach Carles Duran mentioned that “the start of the third quarter affected the team a lot” in the 75-93 loss in the Catalan derby against Barça.
The Catalan coach appeared resigned after Penya’s fourth consecutive defeat. “Barça was very solid and we had a lot of turnovers, unable to find the best shots. In the second half, they were much better,” he said.
“We are very disappointed because we are the first ones who want to win, but tomorrow we will prepare for our next game in the best possible way,” he added.
Regarding the tribute to Rubio, Parra, and Laprovittola, Duran noted that “it is a great gesture on the part of the club towards people who have been very important for Penya.”
Finally, the Joventut coach discussed the role of young players in the derby. “There is a significant weight difference between both teams, but I don’t believe there was that much difference in rebounding. Ruzic and Prey gave their all, but we must remember that one is a junior and the other was a junior just a year ago,” he concluded.
