GOLDEN RACKET UP FOR GRABS
The Coomer Golden Racket is a traveling trophy made possible by an anonymous donor and will remain with the regular season winner each year. SIUE won the Golden Racket last season. The Coomer Golden Racket will honor legacy of Jason Coomer who served in a dual role at SIUE as Coach and Administrator leading SIUE tennis from 2010-2016 while serving as Senior Associate AD for External Affairs before becoming the Deputy Athletic Director for the Cougars. Coomer now serves as the Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics at Lindenwood University where he continues to make his mark in the Ohio Valley Conference.
OVC PLAY
This is SIUE’s third OVC match of the regular season.
SERIES RECORD
SIUE is 3-0 all-time against the Lions. The last time SIUE and Lindenwood played in St. Charles was during the 2007-08 season.
SINGLES RECORD AS A TEAM
SIUE is 109-43 in singles matches this season. In dual matches, SIUE is even better 58-22 mark.
OVC UPDATE
SIUE is tied for third in the OVC standings with a 1-1 record. The Cougars’ remaining OVC matches are Eastern Illinois (4/6), Southern Indiana (4/7) and Western Illinois (4/13).
YEAR SIX
Adam Albertsen, who recently recorded his 200th dual match as a collegiate coach (men’s and women’s tennis), is in his sixth season as the head coach of the Cougars. SIUE has increased its win total in each of the previous five years. Last season, the Cougars completed play with a 17-5 dual meet record.
