Metro Boomin Announces Show At The Pyramids In Giza – HipHopDX

Metro Boomin will be heading to Egypt at the end of the month for a performance at the historic Pyramids in Giza.

On Tuesday (April 2), the Missouri native announced this plans on Twitter with a comic-book inspired graphic featuring him in front of the ancient four-sided structures as well as the Great Sphynx.

“In other news I’m doing a show at the Pyramids in Giza,” he wrote along with mind-blown emojis.

The set is scheduled to take place at the Kundalini Grand Pyramids on April 30. Tickets are available to purchase here.

Travis Scott attempted to perform at the Pyramids of Giza last summer, but the concert was ultimately cancelled because of the rapper’s “strange rituals.”

Per the Egypt Independent, the General Syndicate for Musical Professions in the country made the call just 10 days before the show, saying that La Flame’s highly-anticipated summer performance would no longer take place due to safety concerns and his culturally-damaging beliefs.

“Since the General Syndicate is part of the fabric of this beloved country it is keen on its stability and refuses to tamper with societal values and Egyptian and Arab customs,” a statement by the organization read.

“Based on research and documented information about strange rituals at Travis’s concerts that are inconsistent with our authentic societal values and traditions, the Board of Directors has decided to cancel the license issued to hold this type of concert that contradicts the cultural identity of the Egyptian people.”

In an attempt to reverse the decision, Travis wrote a letter to local authorities that didn’t work as he wasn’t allowed to move forward with his plans.

As for Metro Boomin, the producer is currently basking in the glory of his joint album with Future, We Don’t Trust You.

A whopping five songs from the effort made it into the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 tally for the chart dated April 1, with the Kendrick Lamar-assisted “Like That” reaching the No. 1 spot in the country.

Additionally, Metro and Future command the No. 2 spot with “Type Shit” featuring Travis Scott and Playboi Carti, the No. 6 spot with “Cinderella” that also features Travis, the No. 8 spot with “We Don’t Trust You” and No. 9 with “Young Metro” featuring The Weeknd.
