BOYS TENNIS
Chillicothe 4, Wheelersburg 1: The Cavaliers took down the Pirates 4-1 in a nonconference matchup at the Cavalier Athletic Center in Chillicothe on Saturday. In singles, Noah Flores won 6-1, 6-1, Asher Pendell won 6-3, 6-4, and JB Maravilla won 6-2, 6-1. In doubles, Benjamin and Elijah Yandila won 6-3, 6-0, while Aeden Montalvo and Lyric Grave were defeated 6-3, 6-0.
BASEBALL
Zane Trace 8, Lynchburg-Clay 1: The Pioneers gave up just four hits and had just one error in a road win over the hosting Mustangs. Dillon Hoover notched his third win on the mound after pitching 5 1/3 innings, striking out five and walking four.
Gunnar McCullough led the offense by going 3-for-3 at the plate with a double, two RBIs, two runs and a sacrifice fly. Josh Young and Lukas Oiler each hit a double and batted in a run, and Coen Larson went 1-for-2 with two runs and two stolen bases.
Logan Elm 8, Piketon 7: The Redstreaks dropped their sixth game of the season after falling to the Braves on Saturday. Garrett Legg went 2-for-2 at the plate with two RBIs and two runs, and Gabe Lamerson went 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Brent McGuire went 1-for-3 with a two runs and a walk, and Ashton Cormany batted 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run.
Malik Diack had a hit and batted in a run, while Cayde Conley went 2-for-5 with two runs. Zack Hannah also walked once and scored a run.
SOFTBALL
Adena sweeps Trimble: The Warriors scored a combined 35 runs and shutting out the Tomcats in both games of their Saturday doubleheader.
In game one, Sophie Cheesebrew pitched a complete game with two strikeouts, and she also went 3-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs and a run. Kiera Williams went 4-for-5 with two RBIs and four runs, and Emma Garrison went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and three runs. Madi Halcomb went 3-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and three runs, and Marly Halcomb hit a double, a triple, scored three runs, stole a base and batted in a run.
In game two, Williams pitched a perfect game with 10 strikeouts while hitting a double, scoring two runs and stealing a base while at the plate. Marly Halcomb went 3-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI and two runs, and Madi Halcomb went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Adriana Guarnieri also hit a home run and batted in two runs.
